Blog for 9th July 09

Posted on 9th July, 2009

There’s not much to blog about, but there are a few things that may be worth a mention.

The son of Tony Allen sent me an email from the USA. He is a professor in a University there. He says his Dad has seen the website and would like to get in touch. Tony is not on line at the moment so I have sent his son my details .  I hope to welcome him to the fold within the next few weeks. Tony was a Cpl on the MT when we were in Singapore.

Had a telephone conversation with Bill Renton and he tells me he may be able to get contact with Alan Warne, Jock Hogan and Rich Richardson so we may have a few more to add to the contact list before long.

The next newsletter should be ready by next week. I hope to send it out in pdf form to those with computers and hard copy otherwise. Some of you that read these blogs may find some of the newsletter a bit repetitive because I go over the same things for the benefit of those who are not able to access these pages. Hopefully there will be enough new stuff to interest everyone.

I have added some small ads on to the small ads page for those who run their own small businesses so it may be worth a look. Don’t forget that it’s free and you can advertise anything as long as it’s legal.

Well we have had a few days of hot weather and already people are saying its too hot. Well I for one have loved the last few days of sunshine. I have been sun bathing and watching the grass grow in my pocket-handkerchief sized garden. It’s not much of a garden really and its not laid out with lawn and planted borders. I have a few fish in a pond and loads of potted plants to bring a blaze of colour and it suits my lazy way of doing things.

Apart from lazing in the sun for the last few days I do not seem to have a lot of time to do all the things I want to do. When I have done all the usual chores like taking the wife shopping etc I like to do a bit of drawing, painting and try to write my book. (none of these things are for public scrutiny they are just things I like to do) Of course I like to keep the website up to date. I don’t know how I ever found time to go to work. Who says retirement is boring.

That’s about it for no.
